Hi, did any of the above solve your problem? I have a 2004 (54) S40 1.8 petrol and have been experiencing intermittent problems with acceleration. Engine management light is on, had code read by my mechanic (P2008) but advised this is a generic code and could 1 of numerous faults, i had a new throttle assembly fitted about 2 months ago by the garage i bought the car from but only resolved the problem until now.

Any advice appreciated.

Default Part Number & Image

Unfortunately my original carb cleaner fix only worked a short while and I resorted to changing the solenoids which cost £55 from Volvo.

Here the box with the part number - 31375551

Here's an image of the old assembly that got replaced.

It's a really easy job to do, everything is accessible should take 5-10 minutes.

Brilliant

Thanks for that.
Going to give Volvo a call tomorrow and order them in.
Cheers

Hi, did the replacement solenoid solve your problem? I have just ordered the part for mine and I am hoping it works.

Sorry, also meant to ask, does the engine management light go off once the new part is fitted or will I have to get it reset?

Yes the part solved my problem; the engine light went off once the new part was fitted.

So, I have fitted the new swirl solenoid to my car and hey presto its running like a dream. I did worry at first as the engine management light didn't go out straight away, although performance was a lot better, more responsive and idled a lot better not as lumpy. After a couple of trips to the shops etc, stopping and starting, the light went out and hasn't come back on since. The relief I can tell you was superb, I've had this problem for 6 months and now feels like I have the car I wanted when I bought it, so a big thanks to RMDAVY for finding the solution and taking the time to post on here, I owe you a pint

Fitting the solenoid also cured my problem but I reset the check engine light myself as didnt realise it'd go out itself.

Thanks again to rmdavy for posting the part number
