The newer TPMS does indicate an individual tyre problem by the individual green tyre icon changing to amber, it just does not give the pressure.

I wasn't aware of that nu11eaf. Which MY was this effective from. I haven't had any tyre pressure problem yet (fingers crossed) so not sure what my MY18 will tell me when the time comes.

do you have an early version of the iTPMS? they DO differentiate which wheel tyre pressure is low ... The older electronic sensors which volvo used to use were more trouble than they are worth , when having new tyres you often had to renew the sensors as they get corroded in and they have batteries which run down . and at £120 a set not cheap and then they have to be coded to the car so that it knows which wheel each sensor is on .. This is one case where simple is best :-)

I believe the new version came in with the 2017 MY cars, (April/May 2016) mine has the new version which was registered in June 2016.
I had a rear tyre blow out last year and it showed me which tyre it was. You get a TPMS warning on the driver display and in the Sensus TPMS display it shows which tyre it is.

Thanks for that. I'll keep an eye out when the time comes and look to see what the system tells me. The online manual doesn't differentiate re TPMS at all as far as I can see irrespective of the MY so the owner is in the dark as what will show up.

Personally I think the System is adequate for what it´s intended. A fast heavy loss in pressure is noticeable by any driver. A slow decrease is not. You get used to the increasing sluggish feeling and might not notice it before it becomes a danger.
In my case it took about a week for the tyre to loose 0,5bar and the system to give a new warning. I did not notice any difference in handling of the car and would have driven on. So it did what it was expected to do an warned my early enough.
Please keep also in mind, that any tyre will differ in pressure due to temperature (through ambience and friction) and elevation and weather (hydrostatic air pressure). So any system regardless if its by internal sensor or indirect measurements will need to allow a for changes in tyre pressure without giving alarms. 0,5 bar does not seem to big for me.

Temperature can be compensated, the pressure being referenced to a fix temperature, that's not a problem.
The indication of a temperature comensated sensor will stay the same, the tyre being cold or hot.
You are right about a slow loss of pressure. But I find 0,5 bar to much loss before being warned.

There are two systems for tyre pressure
monitoring, TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring
System) and TM (Tyre Monitor). In the event
of uncertainty about which system the car
has, open the menu system MY CAR and
search for the car's settings:
• The Tyre pressure menu is used if it is

• The Tyre monitoring menu is used if it is
TM, see Tyre pressure monitoring (TM)*

My menu on MY17(16Reg) XC60 says Tyre Monitoring.

The older TPMS system with pressure sensors in the wheels show the actual pressure of each tyre the new system just has coloured tyre indicators green if all ok and amber if pressure is low on any particular tyre. So just looking at the tyre monitoring system in Sensus will tell you which you have.

It happened again whilst towing, this time I hadn’t changed styles ( I just left it on comfort). 2 hours into my journey the TPMS warning came on , all 4 tyres so I just ignored it. The place temperature outside was on 12 so it’s nothing to do with heat.
Bit of a pain in the ass as this has happened the twice I’ve towed the van.
5 yrs of ownership of my Freelander 2 & never saw the TPMS warning once.
