Not sure if this is going to be one of these Purple Bricks moments, but most specialist classic car insurance brokers will insure a > 20year old car on a limited mileage basis and include breakdown cover - most, I would have thought at very (more?) competitive rates. Still, satisfaction is priceless.

They will but read the small print... it may be limited to 10 miles recovery which if you have to pay the extra £'s a mile could get expensive.

Nationwide has a FlexPlus current account which costs £13/month but gives break down cover (including Europe, recovery, onward travel etc) also covers mobile phones and provides travel/medical insurance for you + spouse + kids. They also pay 5% interest on £2.5k so the net cost is < £7/month for all of that: pretty good darn value I reckon

10 mile recovery radius with classic policies? No so Marty Dolomite, with the policies I have been involved with for over 40 years, but you could be right with ones you know of.

Also recently joined Auto Aid - they were £38 cheaper than the RAC offer, and on the basis that i have rarely used breakdown i decided to keep the money in my pocket.

I'm another AutoAid customer and have used their recovery services twice (including just a few months ago for the Volvo)... If anyone can find a cheaper price for the great level of service they offer then I'd really like to know about it!

If you are with Autoaid for breakdown or recovery it may be worth checking your policy:~

They now charge for vehicles over 15 years of age: previously all cars had been covered regardless.
New policies will have these charges- renewal/continued should be at previous terms etc.
Another way for these companies to dip into your wallet!
Bob.

0-15 years: £61.49
16+ years: £76.49

Not bad. Still cheaper than AA which was £93 the first year, then they wanted £168 at renewal but had an 'offer' of £126 for 3 months 'free' cover this year + same renewal price next year. The AA policies seem to auto renew even when you untick the auto renew box at signup. Naturally I left them a post on facebook about it.
