Have you already crossed another car with shadow lights?
I wonder if the car that didn't detect the oncoming car first, when "he is in the shadow",
will still black out a portion of light where the other car is.

I've had several cars with bi-xenon lights and still have the Honda. None of them come close to the LED lights on the Volvo.
Yes the lights dance around a bit but that is so that the maximum breadth of the road is lit when in oncoming traffic. Yes, they can sometimes be confused and on motorways they don't dip soon enough at times. So the lights are not perfect, but are superior to any lights I've had on any previous cars. This is my first car with active shadow LED lights, but they can be used manually dipped if the active part is found wanting at any time.

They will take a lot to beat my current A8 matrix headlights but am looking forward to trying.

My experience is that they still work and create the shadow / dip. Just because the oncoming light isn't shining directly at you, when you're in the shadow of an oncoming vehicle, it still sees the light source and dips. If a light isn't shining directly 'at' you, it isn't invisible.

AST is not standard on Inscription , only on Pro models. Must admit I'm very impressed with the standard AHB on mine. I had a loan R Design Pro T8 that had AST. Very impressive watching the beams dancing about but I can't say I miss it
