I held back with comments to post #27, just in case something had happened with the 1233 update, but on Monday/Tuesday, I was directed the correct way around at least 30 roundabouts.
Never has Volvo Sat nav ever made a mistake like this, in all the years that I have been driving their cars.

Updating the maps?
He states that it took 90 minutes.
The norm for me, has been around 60 minutes, but updating to version 1233, took just short of 50 minutes.

Sorry, to clarify, it nearly always suggests the left lane (or left two lanes) when turning right at a roundabout.

If this was the 1st of April, then I would understand this statement.

I am an old gimmer, but no way can you turn right at a roundabout in the U.K.
No matter which direction your route takes you, on entering the roundabout you exit to the left and told to follow: ???
Are roundabouts different in the Manchester area?

Bit puzzled. Don’t you ever take the third exit at a roundabout? I’d call that “going right”, and the Volvo sat nav nearly always suggests approaching the roundabout in the left lane to do this.

I have to correct myself.
By the Highway Code, it looks like you can stay in the right hand lane until ready to exit to the left.
For me, this is not safe, having to move left, possibly cutting in front of traffic on your left, to exit ?

Yes, I do this in the U.K. and in Europe when approaching a roundabout.
Staying in the left lane, or right lane, depending which country I am in, I have never experienced flashing headlights, or honking of horns.
With caution, I allow my sat nav to guide me.

My car was in for main dealer service yesterday (reduced deal). I asked about an update and got handed a nice leaflet and told they don't do it for you any more. just use a 64gb memory stick.
maybe they are fed up with Volvo it as well!

But surely you must ponder from time to time why they often have two lanes (or more) on and approaching a roundabout?

I often travel on the A9 and A1 and both have numerous roundabouts on dual carriageways.
On approaching these roundabouts from memory, the sat nav tells me, example: “In 400 yds, on entering the roundabout, take the 2nd exit and follow the A?”.
Never does it mention any lane.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Driving along multi lane autoroutes in Europe is slightly different, but never does the sat nav tell you to get into a particular lane.

I assume they mean the arrow graphic which shows the lane when you are within a few metres of the roundabout?
I never have an issue with this and follow road signs and\or take the left or centre land if exiting first or second exit, or the right hand lane if going more than 180 degrees around. Following signs, lines and and traffic lights at all times of course.

Drove around Manchester last weekend and can confirm that unconventional roundabouts are rare to non-existent. It was all straightforward as far as I could see and Sensus worked perfectly apart from the postcode for the Park Inn [Radisson Blue] hotel being at a back alley, with access under some rather dingy railway arches. At least it found the building. You would think that the postcode would send you round the front though. I'm sure that is not a fault with the Sensus mapping though.
