What goes here?

Finally getting to the bottom of my "woggly gearstick" problem... :-)

The source of the "woggle" seems to be the joint circled in the picture (attached). Can anyone tell me (through knowledge / looking at their car / consulting VADIS) if there should be something lining the ball/socket joint arrowed? There is an awful lot of play in it otherwise...
