1997 940 2.3 Estate - Reluctant Sale
Hi
Due to work I'm going overseas for a couple of years and unfortunately i'm unable to take my car with me. As it is of very little value to anyone 'out of the know' so to speak, i would like to gauge interest from you guys if anyone is interested in purchasing prior to attempting to sell elsewhere. Extremely reluctant sale. The Car: 1997 LPT Ex Demonstrator. Own owner, well family, for 15yrs. 1997 940 2.3 with 135k on the clock. Taxed until Dec 2013 MOT until April 2013 My parents passed this onto me in 2009 and as you'll see i've upgraded various bits and pieces on it. If it wasn't for moving i was looking at full Blistein HDs, new intercooler and cam. It's a fun car to drive on good roads, turbo pulls strong. It's probably about 180-190hp but more than able for more subject to sensible moves. I will get more pics up in due course if you want, it's due to be valeted this weekend. Good Points: - Mechanically in great condition with low mileage (as far as 940 standards go). - Breather box, head gasket, timing plug, water pump & spark plugs replaced at 120k. - Last oil change at 132K. - Fuel filter, injectors, distributor & leads replaced February 2012. - Pirelli P6000 fitted 2011 with good tread. - Egg crate grill. - Catch can. - Generally good condition for it's age and useage. - The car has been used well (it's been all over Scotland on numerous road trips) but equally maintained with regular servicing and has recently passed it's MOT. Upgrades: - Turbosmart manual boost controller @ ~13psi. - Stack boost gauge. - Reconditioned 15g from Tryinbe on TB fitted 2011. - TLAO ecu & ezk chips limited at 6800rpm fitted 2011. - Full stainless steel turbo back 2.5" exhaust (including new cat) fitted 2011. - Brown tops reconditioned & cleaned from jimthan. 348cc confirmed flow capacity (at time of cleaning) fitted 2012. Bad points: - Has been keyed to both sides along most of length due to drunken idiots. - Drivers mirror needs replaced. Again due to drunken idiots. - Basic specification - no electric windows, mirrors, cruise control or aircon. - Remains with original 940 suspension. Someone described the 940 as point & squeeze which is more or less accurate. See earlier comments re intended upgrades. - Drivers heated seat switch is faulty, duck tape current correcting. - ABS needs fixed, i'm not sure what's wrong with it but have never had any issues with safety etc. You need to be careful driving a rear while drive turbo at the best of times. Possibly the sensor. - Small areas of rust (where a roof rack was used) and other small areas, nothing major. - Timing belt replacement probably due in next 5-10k miles. - Front cam seal is leaking oil slightly (i think prior to replacing breather). I was going to get this replaced when i upgraded the cam. As i say it's a reluctant sale and a great car - still too much life left in it for breaking! I wouldn't be selling it if i could help it. As it has an MOT, tax & reconditioned turbo, new ss exhaust etc i'm not sure of it's value, i'm open to offers. Any thoughts on value? I don't need to sell for another 4 months but this is flexible if it's going to a good buyer. Last edited by 940lpt2300; May 4th, 2012 at 22:06. Reason: price TBC |

Thanks, as i say it's a reluctant sale but i'd prefer it go to someone who knows 940's and can continue using it etc.
Im moving to Oz and there is a variety of 240, 740 & 940's over there....you never know. If anyone is genuinely interested don't hesitate to PM me. p.s the injector cleaning service from jimthan is highly recommended. I've also got 2 spare brown tops (also cleaned), the old 13c (blades still tight) and original grill going spare. Last edited by 940lpt2300; May 5th, 2012 at 10:54. Reason: jimthan recommendation. |
