Cool Auto dipping mirror

I want one.

I know the Range Rover ones (1993 onwards) are good, because we had one and it worked really well.

If I get the part from a scrappy or wherever, how easy would it be to wire up?
I would assume that it's just a 12V supply and a ground connection.

Are there any easy to get to parts of the wiring loom that I can piggyback it from? I want it to be ignition switched.

I haven't got an auto dipping mirror in my S40 but I have fitted one from a MG TF. It has two lights on its underside, less distracting for the driver when the passenger wants to see something at night. It just sild onto the existing fitting on the windscreen. I wired it into the existing light fittings in the headlining. Hope this may help.

Ah, fantastic!

If I read it correctly, you fitted an auto mirror from an MG TF to your S40?
What year is your S40 and how effective is the mirror?

If you don't mind me asking...how much did you pay for it?

No it is not an auto dipping mirror but it has two lights on it's underside and it slides on to existing bracket on the wind screen. It is also a manual dipping one. If I remember correctly it cost in the region of £12.

Ah, right!

Sounds like a fairly simple job to wire in, then.
All I need now is an auto dipping mirror!
