Don't forget that the US and UK have a different method of measuring octane
I was not aware of this. so if the US is selling 93 octane , what does it equal in UK gas?

your 93 is our 97/99 (super), your 91 is our 95, standard unleaded.

Depends what age you talking about really, the S60R AWD should be quickest due to the AWD component, being able to get down the power.

At 296bhp is the most powerful that I know of in non current model range Volvos. You mentioned the 850, which was quick in the 2.3T and indeed the 850R, but I think was only 250bhp and FWD still.

The 960s had big RWD 2.8L, but were not all the powerful.

Been testing a few different unleaded's in my '98 V70R over the last few weeks and without a doubt, Shells V Power is in a different league in my opinion. Way more fuel efficent and runs very sweetly! Chuffed!

ok krisby , i can work with that. i guess i just wanna know where my 2001 s60 t5 stands in the line up with being quick.

and not to threadjack anymore , so Sparrowhawk i researched gas on youtube a few months ago and you sir are correct on the Shell gas , their gas did everything they claim it to do , as far as more power , cleaning and all that good stuff. The high octane Shell gas is what i always run , its my favorite. I have a uncle who is a tech for a lambo dealership and they recommend Shell gas , and always say try not to switch up different types of gas so often , this is not good for a car. There is a lady i know who lives up the road from me , she drives a 2000 bmw with 450k on the clock and she told me before she has only used shell gas in her car , never any other kind. we might be onto something here? im gonna stay with Shell forever in any car i drive. I think if you stick with the same type of gas and never switch it around , this could make your car run forever? but i dont know , just a guess.

edit: Im not saying just use shell only , im saying if you start using bp gas then it might be good to stick with bp gas. or whatever gas you start with.

Not at all. Should be good for a couple of million miles on unleaded.

It's always worked well in mine also so I was gutted when after been away for a couple of weeks my local Shell garage is now a BP!!! so now I've got a 25 mile round trip to fill up.

I try and avoid shell, in my area they are the most expensive and twice when I have redeemed vouchers they didn't take them off my sale, so I stopped last spring, despite being the closest to me.
Normally use Esso premium but, after 2 fill ups (well, £50) with Tesco Momentum I have found I get easily another 20 miles, so I will stick with that for the time being I think.
