Default US vs European XC60 DRL software inquiry

I believe the American XC60s used the front indicators as DRLs. I am not talking about the small orange marker lights lights some cars have, but the main indicator bulb. The lights stay on (orange) and when used as an indicator they flash.

My question is can this be done for the European XC60s, is it a setting change in the car software? Maybe requiring a PC or terminal via the OBD.

This might seem an odd request but there are now smart indicator LED bulbs that when continually supplied power emit a white light but when they detect the pulsing on/off of being used as an indicator they flash orange.

This means those with older XC60s could have bright DRLs and indicators using the indicator bulb as a dual-function device.

In my previous experience of this, the indicator bulbs were the same as brake/tail bulbs I.e. dual filament with 5 and 15w filaments. The running light used the 5w and the indicator used the 15w. When the indicator was activated, the running light was turned off

This was several years ago and I expect the brightness would now be controlled by software but I also expect you'd have done difficulty getting this to work with the LEDs you described
