Amazon later and earlier steering boxes?
My February 1970 Amazon has the later type collapsible offset steering column/shaft.
Reading through a previous thread, it was suggested that if the adjustment screw has barely any threads showing above the locking nut, then the unit is nearing the end of its life. This is the case with my steering box. I have a 2nd hand steering box from a 1965 amazon 121.This unit has plenty of threads showing above the locking nut, but has the straight shaft which has the rubber 4 bolt jointing piece. Can my later shaft be fitted to the earlier steering box.? I am not desperate to replace my steering box yet, as the steering feels fine, just asking as the spares situation tightens. thanks, Chris. |
