Default Aircon Compressor

Hi

The pulley on my aircon compressor is seizing up and stopping the belt turning, causing a huge squealing noise, so I'm after a working aircon compressor.

Car is a 1997 940 LPT Celebration (Manual). Not sure of the part number, but I assume the compressors are the same on these regardless. I will see if I can get the part number off it tomorrow but just thought I'd throw this thread up now.

Cheers
Jim

Ive found one on eBay just down the road from me, but its from a 1997 Automatic car. Are the compressors on manual and auto cars the same?

Cheers

I can't see them being any different.

Only differences I've noticed, pipe work connections on top are different.

If you have not already got sorted, I have one I can supply you with - comes off an R reg (1997) 2.3LPT manual Celebration, so it should be identical!

That would be good. I'd rather buy one off here than eBay. Apologies for not getting back to you on the M90. I couldn't find anyone to fit it for reasonable money, and as its only jumping out of gear periodically, I've decided to live with it.

Aircon however, I can not live without, especially after just coming back from France, where it was mid 30's and bloody roasting! I want to get the compressor sorted before it packs in totally!

How much for the compressor Andrew?

Many Thanks
Jim

Default compressor or electric clutch ?????

Are you a 100% certain that your problem lies with the compressor itself or
with the Electro/ magnetic clutch, which is normally the culprit.

The pulley on the compressor periodically stops turning, causing the belt to screech like no ones business so fairly sure I need a new compressor

Ive tried some WD40 and oil to lubricate it, but its getting worse.
