Default Swedish Volvo history check

Hi all, not been on for a while but wanted to ask for your advice on how I can check the registration details or history of a car still in Sweden. Most grateful for any help or advice.

Join the Volvo Enthusiasts Club. They have a link to Volvo and should be able to provide you with a dating certificate, if you have the necessary details like chassis number etc.
Sweden's equivalent to the DVLA also has a website which should be able to find your car if you have a registration number, providing that the car was on the road when records were digitised. Not sure how much information it will give these days, however, VEC is the best bet.

You could join here http://www.amazonklubben.se/
They have a very good forum but the auto translate to English isn't anywhere as good as it used to be. Non members can read but not post.

If your car is still in Sweden the late or current owner may well know the Swedish registration system and be able to provide you with the history you need. He might also be a member of the above club. The government archives are quite open for details of older cars.

I concur, Derek. We have friends who live in Uppsala and know from experience that the Swedes are much more relaxed regarding freedom of information than we are. I hadn't posted because I don't know the specific process, but could probably find out if 'charlesboya' draws a blank.

Regards, John.
