C30 Fuel Filter Woes
Hi all,
I need to swap out the fuel filter on my '08 1.6D c30, unfortunately, as I'm obviously a little bit stupid, I've gone ahead with fitting the new filter as a straight swap without priming it first.. The car now won't start, assume it's not pulling the fuel through/air block So I guess a couple of questions, 1st - I always thought these cars were self priming on the fuel filter, but i guess this info is wrong? 2nd - What's the best solution to the issue at hand - could I buy a fuel priming pump and bring the fuel through that way? As a secondary thought I'm now second guessing everything else I've done, is there a clear way to tell the in feed from out feed pipes as the connect to the filter? I'm almost certain these are as they were when I removed the old one but now thinking I need to be certain! All help appreciated!

No responses but a quick update for anyone who stumbles across this in the future, and finds themselves in a similar position:
The problem has been solved, removed the top of the filter housing and brimmed it with fuel, replaced and refitted - took a few turn over attempts but it did eventually pull through, with a little bit of choking for a few seconds, turns over fine now! Advanced warning to anyone else who finds themselves in this position, a few more attempts and my battery would have been dead so worth connecting it to a charger between tries Nick

Hi , can I just ask you what might seem a really stupid question ... The fuel filter on you c30 , is it on the right hand side in front of the rear wheel ? And is the a cover that needs to come off ? I only ask because I've just spent the last hour crawling on the floor trying to get a plastic cover off my c70 in the hope that the filter was under it ... Had to give up in the end as I couldn't get the cover off .... Lack of access to see , did you find it easy .
Cheers in advance Chris |
