Default Restore steel wheels

Sorry guys, I seem to be posting like mad at the moment be I'm sure it will slow down soon! There is such a wealth of knowledge on here that its difficult not to ask for your opinions.
Anyhow, my wheels are pretty rusty and really letting the side down when it comes to the look of the car, its a 1973 orange 145, no comments about the colour please! ;-/ My immediate thought was to get them powder coated so that I won't have to revisit them anytime soon but it will cost over £100 which seems like a lot. I am now thinking of getting them off, tyres off and then have them blasted then paint them myself. The are steel wheels painted silver at the moment so I wish to repaint them silver again but unsure of what paint to go for if I do the job myself.
Thanks
Tony

I'd suggest Autoglym wheel silver + laquer.

"Steve and his 244" did a good how-to guide but I can't find it just now. It was for alloys, but still helpful.

Get the wheels blasted, it saves hours of prep. Prime them quicly afterwards, to avoid flash rusting.

Cheers John, thanks for the reply, I'll check out that Autoglym wheel silver and blasting definitely seems to be the best way forward.
Thanks
Tony
