Default S60 bi-fuel

I'm having an intermittend problem with my factory bi-fuel, it will suddenly just cut out at random times - no spluttering beforehand etc. It then won't restart on gas, the engine just coughs as if it has no fuel supply. Sometimes the petrol switch won't activate the gas change over, the light just stays constant orange.

I know I've an intermittent fault on the LPG stepper motor (according to VIDA) which I'm intending replacing in the next week or so, but would this account for the complete shutting off of the fuel supply, and inability to reselect LPG?

Does it sound like an intermittently failing shut off soleniod coil? I may as well replace everything at once if so.

Check the coil on the tank and under bonnet solenoid for cracking. If the plastic has split then it could be the coil failing.

Thanks Dai - now how the heck are you supposed to reach the back allen screw on the stepper motor?

I currently have the bumper and slam panel off (was doing some other work as well), and am still struggling to get to the fastners.

Are you not taking the distributor block off to clean it all out at the same time?

I was trying to follow these instructions to clean the distributor - http://www.forumgas.se/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1334

However I have now pulled the entire distributor and stepper motor out for overhaul which seemed easier.
