volvo 940 1.9?

Hi,

I have recently purchased a 1994 manual 5 speed volvo 940 estate. The log book and MOT state the car is 1896cc making the engine a 1.9. I have not come across a 1.9 engine anywhere in this series for sale. All I can find are 2.0 and 2.3 ltr engines. Does any one know of the 1.9ltr engine in a 940 manual estate? Is it a rare breed? what is it like? Also are parts easily available?

Also I seem to have an intermittent problem selecting first and second gear, this is very problematic when at traffic lights. The problem arises when coming to a stop and changing from neutral to first, where it will not go in to first gear and sometimes second too. It seems to be ok at times when changing down in to second and then in to first when the car stops but this is not always possible. Would the problem be the gear selector/linkage? or the whole gearbox or clutch? Does anyone know of a recommendable mechanic to get the car sorted in the west midlands? What kind of price would I be looking at?

IIRC the 2.0 is a 1986 cc

Its either a miss print or the bottom of the nine has joined up somehow (dirt?) to make it appear like an 8. I have that problem sometimes too with 1st. Just take your foot off and on the clutch again.

As for parts, check out FRF volvo in swansea in the traders section. Genuine and very competitive. I paid for a set of dicsc what Nissan wanted my uncle to pay for one, i repear ONE plastic wheel trim!
