Thanks Petey.
I ordered a Bosch one I minaged to find for about £30: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BOSCH-CAR...72.m2749.l2649 I got them to send me a picture to make sure it was the right one, but we'll see. I'll wait to get the other service parts once I've solved the problem with the engine management light. Cheers, |

Ok, so bit of an update.
The DTC reader didn't come, so I took it to a friend (who has a garage) and he read the codes using a Snap On diagnostic reader. Got the following codes: 2A30 - Particle Trap Blocked 2A40 - Particle Trap overloaded A610 - Additive dosage module - faulty signal So it looks like a DPF regen may be in order. I'm going to take it out on the motorway later and try to get it to regen. Am I right in thinking that 10-15 min cruise at over 2,500 rpm ought to trigger a regen? My mate also deleted the fault code for me and it hasn't come back on so far. Cheers, |

Yes, that is the general rev range to get it going. Maybe a bit longer drive though, 30 minutes or more.

Ok, thanks.
I'll give it a go. Might have to rethink where I can take it then. M23 annoyingly has roadworks from Gatwick all the way to London so would only get around 20 mins before 50 mph kicks in). |

Ok, so update on my problem.
I drove back from my friend's garage after he erased the DTC, all was well. Got in the car this evening to take it out to try to get the DPF to regen and the engine management light came straight on. Took it for a spin on the dual carriageway/motorway (in limp mode). Got it up to operating temperature and then ran it for about 22 miles (around 20 mins) in 4th gear at between 2.5-3k rpm and then back again (22 miles in around 20 mins). It didn't seem to go into regen mode at any stage and I still have the engine management light on. I read somewhere (elsewhere on the forum I think, but I can't find it now) that there are different levels of 'clogged-ness' (my word): 1) bit clogged - car will do an autoregen under normal conditions, 2) bit more clogged - car will still regen itself; 3) even more clogged - need to do a forced regen at a garage; 4) DPF is blocked - need to replace. However, I'd be surprised if it was 4, as I have mainly been doing 2+ hour motorway journeys since I got it 1,000 miles ago and it was working fine until Sunday. Although the oil level did look like it had been overfilled when I bought it and I read elsewhere that that can cause oil to be burned creating soot. Any suggestions as to how I can get it to do a regen? Or is it worth getting some DPF cleaner or something (eg Liqui Moly)? Alternatively, do you think the sensor might be a problem? I'm thinking I need to let some oil out either way (might as well do an oil change whilst I'm at it). Cheers, |

I think the best option would be to find someone that has VIDA & DICE.
That way you can see all stored fault codes, check the soot level in the DPF and if needed force a regen.

Good idea.
I'll post a message on the Diagnostic map discussion board to see if anyone has VIDA-DICE in the area. Cheers, |
