For major trips into the unknown I always use a Garmin Satnav running in parallel with the Sensus device. I have used them succesfully in Spain and Portugal to get to where I wanted to go. Interesting to see them disagree ocasionally, however after a specific route has been selected the losing system reselects the chosen route.

If possible I prefer to use postcodes as the destination selector especially in countries with accented characters.

Problem with Sensus is that it does not integrate all different searches. yesterday I was trying to find a restaurant named Mejico and used the near the car search. Don't know why but it started searching for restaurants in Mexico. Also here in Greece having a different alphabet and accents, Sensus works the same peculiar way. If you do not put the accent, it does not even find major cities. Then the translation from Greek to English is often for a joke, as for example the famous worldwide Hilton Hotels, in the Greek version they name them at Sensus Chilton. Obviously you will never find your destination.

Thankfully i have installed the VoC app, which always finds my destination fast and even if I just place a name of a business or a contact address, simply because it is powered by Google. Funny thing is that the car accepts it and seems that it does have it on its database, which every time I am trying to find it manually at Sensus I fail.

My point is that Sensus should have had only a search bar and not so many details because finally you never find what you need fast and efficiently.

All I get are direction indicators not lane indicators, it points left or right or straight ahead etc but does not come up with what lane to get into ahead, the Ford was like a photo of the lanes ahead with the lane you require hi-lighted. I have the latest updates.

I do not get this view, map is shown in driver display and only direction arrows pop up. settings are as manual.

Just think all the extra functionality we could get in the car if volvo didn’t waste their time on creating a useless navigation system that just frustrates people and just told people to use google or Apple maps over CarPlay.

Sensus navigaton.

1. Not great for searching for UK landmarks or businesses like a local hotel by name - Resorted to finding/sending by VOC while IN the car!(VOC is good and accesses your contacts' details as well as 3rd party (Google?) info).

2. Voice command is truly rubbish - trying updates to both Maps and Voice to see if that improves.

3. Road was closed - I pressed the detour button, and was diverted sucessfully away - only to be diverted BACK to the other side of the diversion, despite that fact that the ongoing journey was the other direction, and so I ignored the map, and eventually it stopped telling me to return to the closed road.

3. Lane advice - I have motorway lane arrows showing left or right on the centre console display (12.3"), but nothing more elaborate than that.

4. Android Auto wouldn't connect on Friday, so had Google Maps running on my phone on the centre console, to check against Volvo maps. Some glaring traffic errors not picked up my Volvo, despite Traffic info being on.

Definitely more work needed.

As others have said I find the Sensus interface a bit poor abd clunky but very often use the app with VOC and set up my navigation that way. That feature I love... I just don't love that I need to use it as often as I do!

SWMBO has an Electric Ioniq from Hyundai with a satnav which show this.

Have you tried the app "Google Local search" - available as a download on Sensus - this obviously depend on data connection and will launch the Sensus Nav to navigate to location found via the app

Mobile phone set as a hotspot will do the same job.
