Motor won't start
Hi there,
I am strugeling with a weerd problem. My V40 2002 td runs like it should ,no problems but after stopping the motor one every 100 times he won't start again.Motor crancking as it should but won't start.Looking at all the conections but finding noyhing wrong.Last attempt I spray a little start pilot and it starts at half a turn from the motor and runs as it should.Stopping and restarting whitout problems, till the next x times I start it.Than all starts over again.I don't have a clue what can be the reason for it. Any sugestion or ideas? |

Fuel filter seals allowing air past? When were they last replaced? Every new filter should have new seals in the box.
If it happens again try priming the inline bulb, mounted on the side of the fuel filter housing, until you feel resistance and then see if it starts normally.

Thanks for your remark, will check it next time the engine does not start, but even with air in the filter should te engine not even turn for a few seconds, witch it does't.There must be a tiny bit off fuell in the HP pump i guess?
I find it very odd. Thanks Baffler |

Given it only happens on occasion it could also be early signs of the HP fuel pump pressure sensor failing but changing the fuel filter is the cheapest option especially if you have no record of it being done.

Thanks Liam,
I guess it is not the fuel filter I changed it about 6000km ago( nearly a year) and the problem just came a few months ago.The HP sensor is that the on on the rear of the pump?I guess he gets his signal from the CPU so is there a signal or tension to messure? Is it just a sort off valve?I find it verry weerd.
