Cool Burnt clutch smell ??

My partner says she thinks a burnt smell from our V40 1.9D might have been caused by her towing a heavy horse box up a long incline in stop and go type traffic a few days ago. I drove the car around town today and the clutch works well with no smell now, so I'm wondering if this reported smell was the clutch, or just some farm yard muck on the Cat getting fried.

Probably the clutch got a bit hot and bothered. Not necessarily any damage done.

Could have been a drop of oil on it? lol...tell your partner not to ride the clutch!
Mine did the same about a year ago. but no problem now...

I have to agree my van does it quite often as I like up a steep hill this happens more when it's fully loaded and I have to stop start but other than the smell it works just fine with no slippage

You cannot mistake a clutch burning smell from a hot $hite smell.

Although gotten burnt it`s only because of extra harsh usage, heavy load and revving on a steep hill, burning some oil spillage on it as well as the material burning smell.

If it don`t slip don`t touch it!
