Default V70 T5 Performance

I have a V70 T5 SE which I have just bought. X reg year 2000. I was expecting quite startling performance from 250 bhp but I find it rather slower than I expected. That is until I hit about 3000 rpm when everything seems to become a blur!! Is this right for a V70 T5? Do you have to keep the revs at that level before anything startling happens? Absolutely delighted with it otherwise. My first Volvo.

That sounds about right. The turbo doesn't spool up properly until about 3k rpm.
The trick is to change down a gear and not rely on there being much torque available below that level.

With a re-map (BSR/Rica/MTE/etc) you'll find that the turbo spools a little earlier, say 2.5k rpm, and then all hell breaks loose.

Welcome and I'm glad you're enjoying the car.

Many thanks for the info. I'll try a re-map. Does it have much effect on the general characteristics of teh car other than to make it faster?

A re-map should spool you up sooner and give more mid range grunt and of course more torque to play with..LOL

a remap wil transform your car....i would come to a meet if i was you and try out several members remapped cars....
a remap allows you to run a higher boost safely because it compensates for the extra boost by adding more fuel up to the limitations of the stock injectors
cheers

a MBC will give you even more spool up cos the BCS is not bleeding any away...all of the compressors power will go to the I/C..of course the downside is the lack of fueling but there are several 850's running serious boost this way .....ped..., bb54.....etc
cheers
