Default Varying tank capacity

My xc70 has, as I understand a tank with a gas capacity of 67ltrs. At a recent fill from indicated empty at a morrisons pump I stopped the fill at just over 68ltrs as the pump didn't seem to be stopping. Topped up from quarter to full at another morrisons and pump cut out at 43ltrs and guage showed full. Monday filled at shell from empty, and pump started to stutter and slow at over 70ltrs.
So what's happening, varying temperature or something not right. Each fill I'm getting about the same mileage, so a full tank is full, if you know what I mean.

What is the tank water capacity?

The fill can vary a little from pump to pump and some pumps will not even cut off as they do not have enough pressure to close the valve but the flow does slow right down.

Ah right that might explain things. I'd have to double check in the daylight but I think water capacity was 80ltr.

Back to this again, usually fill up at a coop autogas site and from empty 67-68 litrs then a firm cut off. went to a different coop autogas site after running out and gave up at just over 70ltrs, pump had slowed but didn't cut out. What happens to the extra litres, am I paying for gas im not getting ?

You are getting gas, the problem is not enough pump pressure to activate the fill stop so it slowly puts more gas in.

I think your tank is a 77ltr water capacity so should fill to around 62ltrs

Always get more than 62ltrs in. Is this classed as over filling then ?

It is classed as over filling.

Make sure you do a few miles after filling before leaving the car if you have over filled. It is only really a concern in warm weather as your PRV could end up safely releasing some gas to drop the pressure if it got warm causing an over pressure.

Is it then best to only fill to the correct capacity ? This would of course mean having to run out and then refill. I do notice, if it runs out, parked up and left, it will then if warm, start and run on the "empty" tank for a short time before flashing like a Yank cop car and deciding its empty again, guess that's just lpg expanding etc.

The heat increases the pressure.

At what amount is it cutting off at?

It will get on the red and run for ages, certainly 100 miles on the last green led, but on the red prob 20-30 miles, unless you boot it.
