Default USB Playback Sequence

I've read an awful lot of posts about the (awful) absence of any official information about the playback sequence of the Sensus software when attaching a USB device. From a little bit of experimentation I think I see some patterns emerging (the below is incomplete):

If selecting "Tracks" display is sequenced alphabetically by %title%
and foldername then filename if %title% is duplicated

playback of %track% is sequenced (advanced) by foldername then filename

If selecting "Albums" display is sequenced alphabetically by %album%
then alphabetically by %track%
and foldername then filename if %album% is duplicated or
alphabetically by %title% if %track" = blank

playback is sequenced (advanced) by %title% then foldername then filename

If selecting "Folders" display is sequenced alphabetically by foldername
then alphabetically by filename (NB: duplicate filenames not allowed, so this is a unique instance within foldername)

If selecting "Artists"
display is sequenced alphabetically by %artist%
then alphabetically by %title%

If selecting "Year" display is sequenced by %year%
then alphabetically by %title%

The %filename% entries are mp3tags, italics are for the directory structure.

Some sort sequences use mp3tags some use foldername or filename. There is probably some logic to it, but at the moment it escapes me.

What it does mean, however, is if I have several versions of an album or a track-name then I can never be certain which version is playing or which will play next, as the display shows only the mp3tags for title or album, even if the sort sequence is using filename.

So. if I have a song called "The Best Song Ever" in three albums "Original Studio Album", "Live Version" and "Covers by Teenage Screamer" the version selected (and the tracks which will be played afterwards) will vary depending on how I select the track (by album, folder, track, artist, whatever). Similar confusion arises if (as I do) I have folders such as artist/original albums/album 1 and artist/remasters/album 1.

Bah!

Of course there are workarounds such as a folder and file naming and MP3tag naming convention, but for that to be truly useful one has to understand how the Volvo Sensus software works - and no-one seems to know! I'll have to keep playing to find what works for me.

HTH

BTW:
%title% means "track name"
%track% means "track number" or "#"
