Default Who recognizes this whining noise?

Hi,

my 2017 V60 D4 AWD (5-cylinder) is making some weird whining/whistling noises recently. It can be heard best if you step on the throttle very gently when the car is stationary.
I stop hearing it when I drive more than 55-60 km/h and below that in city traffic I hear it occasionally.
When I shift into N while stationary and gently increase rpm's it's also there. I made an audio from the engine bay while doing that.
You can download it here
http://sndup.net/w29y

Does anyone recognize this noise?

Thank you guys and kind regards from Germany

Have you tried turning the air con off to see if that makes a difference? I had a noisy a/c compressor although I don't think yours sounds too bad to be honest.

Aircon is switched off in the audio, that's what I was thinking of at the beginning too.
Maybe aux belt / alternator pulley?

Went to a workshop nearby, they said it's probably the turbo. I really hope not.

Doesn’t sound like turbo to me and there not exactly a known failure. I would say it’s on the belt drive as mentioned about check alternator clutch, AC compressor bearing. With AC switched off the pulley bearing is doing the work so could still be a cause. I would be removing the belts and run again this will rule out any ancillary’s and just leaves you with the timing belt side of things.

Thanks, will try this in the weekend.
To remove/fit the alternator belt I remove the passenger wheel and use the belt tensioner to get it off/on, right?
And the AC belt can be a bit tricky to get on I heard?

Another theory of mine: I cleaned out the egr valve and throttle body housing maybe 4000 kilometers ago.
Between them there's a metal gasket. Could air leaking through this make a noise like this?
Here's another audio when the engine is cold. The noise is louder then. From 0:18 onwards. http://sndup.net/gwxb

Come across a few so called mechanics in the last few years who come out with crud like that ("it sounds like the turbo mate") really? On tickover/no load? They'll say any highish pitched noise is a vacuum leak related to the turbo but if you ask them to pinpoint exactly where they never seem to be able to.

If you're not seeing any other symptoms or codes just monitor it and see if it's progressive.

Diesel engines mostly sound nasty full stop.

Just went to the dealer nearby and showed the noise to a technician. He thinks it's coming from the aux belt, probably alternator.
Have an appointment for Wednesday.
