Default XC60 knocking while turning with speed

Hi there.

My wife's 2014 XC60 R-Design D5 AWD has developed a knocking noise while turning and carrying a bit of speed.

I've been out in it this afternoon and managed to replicate what she's described.

Travelling at around 30mph and turning a sharp left while accelerating, I get a knocking noise from the front. I tried the same corner at the same speed but in neutral and the car is silent. Also tried while holding it in gear and was also silent. The noise is only present when accelerating.

I managed to get the same noise by turning quite sharp around a small roundabout, so can confirm the noise is present turning left and right.

I've read on this forum that the driveshafts could be knackered? Thought I'd ask though, as it only makes a noise under accelerating.

Plugged into VIDA with DiCE, and no warning messages at all.

Thanks in advance!

Accelerating always puts pressure on a worn part so I would certainly be looking at drive shafts for starters. Also check suspension mounts.

Thanks for that. I'll get it booked into the garage for them to take a look.

I'm changing the Haldex pump next week (it's failed. Changed the oil and cleaned the pump gauze, but no luck) and thinking of doing a transmission oil change while I'm at it, however I think changing drive shafts is beyond my ability!
