1998 t4 misfire / oil consumption
Car is using lots of oil 1.5-2.0 L per 1000 miles, very smokey on startup.
Emmisions warning was coming on occasionally now on all the time. Car has a full service about 9000 miles ago (New plugs), I replaced these about 2000 miles ago as the car has a misfire, the plugs were oiled up. Now removed plugs again and they are very oiled up, car misfires and the engine will not tick over. Currently 115k miles, bought at 22k June 1999, Has the engine had it ! |

Coulc be something simple........but it does sound as though it's dieing!
Either the turbo or block. I'd get a compression test does to first check the bores. Are all the plugs oiled? Or it could well be a turbo issue. Either way....time to visit a freindly garage me thinks.

My 99 V40 2.0t has been suffering from the exact same problem as yours (98k), oily plugs, heavy oil usage, slight mis-fire etc...anyway took it to garage today for diagnostic and it was unfortunately bad news i.e. low compression on cylinder 1, i'm not gonna get much change out of £700 so i really, really hope yours isn't the same problem mate as i hate to be the bearer of bad news. Must admit i'm pretty much ****ed off.
I've got it booked in for Tuesday so will let you know how it goes if you like, i do hope yours is something else though buddy. |
