I think Andrew is reminding people that recording your exact location is a bad idea (I would list myself as being in central Lincoln, for example), as is having an unsecured wireless network. It is not paranoia, it is just good practice;
Divulging any personal information is just, stupid: Just because you are sensible enough to be vague about your location, many users with less sense or a more remote address will give a far more accurate location. Many users still use their real names or leave references to their real names in threads. A simple search may give a address, phone number, email or a picture of their prized possession. There are RAT programs that automatically upload without the need to be downloaded by/to the target system.

Ok its a safe external link but if it was not, your could well have a friend placed on your computer.

Voluntarily placing this information in the public domain is unnecessary and potentially risky IMO.
