Weird noise...cured, but why?
OK, so i joined he forum in May this year when the car had a big electrical failure. It also started making a throaty noise from the exhaust, accelerating between 1500 and 2500, then going quiet, which i could not explain.
Move on to now, and...its cold and the heater / water temp wasn't getting warm. I replaced the thermostate, and wow, the heater is back to its usual hot self, and the water temp runs as it should. And.... the noise has gone! Why ? Could it be that due to running cooler, the engine management has been adjusting the mixture, or adding O2, and this has been detonating in the system. The MPG is spot on, so....why? Any thoughts people. Would like to know why this is..... Cheers, Dave
