Well...

whenever my car is a little bit cold for a good 20 minutes or so, it can refuse to go into 1st or 2nd, sometimes even 3rd

somethimes on a boiling on hot day, it will refuse to go into gear.

is this just thew sycro? or something far worse?

is it easy to fit a new sycro?and could i do it?or get a garage to fit it?

any help would be awesomely great!

Cheers

Hi,

It doesn't sound like syncro's to me, when they start to wear it will still go into gear but will 'crunch' and when they get worse the car will start to jump out of gear. My guess would be that the clutch is dragging for some reason, this could be simple adjustment or failure of the pressure plate or the drive plate could be breaking up or just sticking on the splines of the gearbox input shaft. If you switch off the engine and put the car into gear and then start the engine does the car try to creep forwards?

best of luck

Steve

Did you change the oil in the end?
If so did you use the volvo oil as i recommended?

Did you change the gear linkage bushes? This sounds a likely contender if you haven't done it yet.....

Regards,
