Thanks to you all and its sound advice I know.
I will have the car welded to mot standards for the convenience of moving it from workshop to workshop but hopefully the patch to allow mot will be temporary and new inner and outer sills as required will be fitted along with new wings eventually and hopefully a quality respray in future years. I will work towards this so in the meantime the mot is first followed by the suspension. Next year hopefully I can do this car justice by replacing the wings etc and hopefully secure a realistically priced respray although I know it will be a few £000 to have it right. Final result will hopefully be a good representation of a nice 144S. So many have suggested that this is the wrong type of car to spend so much time and money on but its special to me having been in the family since day one so hopefully I can prove them wrong. Thanks for all the encouragement. Dave. |

It's your car and your choice. You are not doing it as an investment so only you will have the appreciation of the true worth of getting the work done properly. A 144S of this age is unusual and it has a great colour matched interior. This is impossible to replicate whereas bodywork and paint is relatively easier to get done to a standard that returns the car to the level it was originally. You have a good plan to get things done so I wish you good luck with the project. Mark |
