Excellent. 5 mins. A dab of washing-up liquid on the hinge pin and spring helped them on to the tabs nicely without stressing them.

I have a query about getting the old broken hinge off the car. Is it not possible just to prise it off somehow? Rather than punching off the retainers or drilling them?

Try it and let us all know.

If I'm reading your question correctly: The old, broken hinge part is held in place by mere pins a nominal 1.5mm in diameter and 15 to 20mm long.

Just push the existing ones through into the fender. They fall into the abyss, never to be seen again. The old hinge piece is now free from the car.

The new hinge kit comes with new pins. I lost one and made one from a nail.
After finding a nail made from the same sized wire stock I cut the head off and stuck it in the hole. EEE-ZEE. Kira

Surely the plastic rivet things holding it on will just snap off with a bit of prising? Seems easier than drilling or punching with a hammer?

Am willing to try this but since no other instructions/videos mention doing this am thinking perhaps am overlooking some hazard doing it this way?

Must have to whack punch pretty hard to do it that way and put hole in the plastic? Although I am not experienced in using punch.

The pin works as a spreader making the plug bigger than the hole. If you just rage it off, you'll make the hole bigger and then the new one won't fit.

I seem to recall the old pins pushed through easy enough.
It is advisable to try to recover some of them before they hit the Abyss.
There are no spares with the new hinge.
