Default M41 Gearbox + Type D Overdrive

Apparently these were available to fit my B16B for a years production, so if anyone has one that will fit the B16 Bell housing that would be fantastic, otherwise any Type D considered. Realise I'm trying to find hens teeth here!

Thank you

I can't think that there were more than handful of custom ordered M41 equiped b16 cars... What year is your car? Most of the b16 cars have a tunnel that will NOT fit a m41 in there with out cutting. I recently worked on a '61 amazon that did have the later tunnel and the M41 bolted in with out issue (but that was behind a b18 we also installed). That car had an gear box that was marked as being a M4 but by counting the ratio it was a M40. Someone could have reboxed the gears but I bet it was so close to the end of the b16 run, that is what the car got. Another b16 amazon owner snapped up that gear box from me.

You might start but reading a page on the different bellhousings/gear box fronts: http://www.sure-vent.com/M40Trans.htm

Also the front of the d-type is the same as the front of a j-type. The j-type has a slightly lower ratio so that might be better...

Mine is a 1961, middle of the year it was produced if I recall correctly. Currently has an M40, but I also have an M4 + M4 Bell housing if that will help.

I realise some adjusting may be needed, adapter plate etc. According to http://www.volvoamazonpictures.se/po...powertrain.php

while type D has a higher rpm reduction
So thought this would be of more benefit.

Thank you for the link, I will add to my reading material!

Obviously a man of many talents!

Am I correct in assuming that as I have a B16B with an M40 my transmission tunnel will be the wider one?

I am going to measure it on Thursday anyway but would be good to know what I need to measure where.
