There is the lens with the hole for the bulb holder. Now the bulb holder must surely still be there unless it has come adrift from the wiring?

The bulb holder for this fitting is just a push in one and not very secure at the best of times: ~ the two extension branches would normally transfer light over the two slits previously mentioned.
If the holder isn’t adrift within the wires then you can purchase a bulb holder (new/used) and find the appropriate loom wire or install a new one into the lighting circuit- this is the point that additional bulb holder can be added above the slots but you will have to incorporate brackets for the same (not difficult) holders are available via eBay-partly wired and ready for LED bulbs if you wish.
Go for the smallest of the T range for the additional lights and a larger for the single etc.

The bulb holder and wires could be somewhere in the mess of relays in the center dash. There is no wires going to the plastic piece you showed, and thats normal. The bulb is held on by the 2 wires powering it. This assembly is then "pushed" into the plastic piece you showed. I don't have any pics with me sadly.

Thanks all. Makes sense but I looked everywhere for a bulb or bulb holder with wires that I thought would go in there. No joy. I look again tomorrow but I dont think it's there. Might need to wire one in.

Its weird that you have the plastic slit but no bulb...
My car is a GL and have it...

What I can't remember is, whether the bulb holder is hard wired to the loom, or if there is a connector from the loom to the bulb holder. If the bulb holder is hard wired, it is surely still there. If there is a connector, then the connection could be undone and the holder itself might be lost. Anyway you are looking either for a wire with a disconnected connector, or a wire with a bulb holder attached. One or the other "must" surely be there?

Had another look today. Definitely no bulb holder or wires present. The electric mirrors were relocated next to the hazard switches etc so I wonder if the wires fired the dash bulb have been incorporated into that.
I'll have to look at getting a light wired in.
