BTW - in the past few months my alarm has been going off for no reason so am now suspecting that leaking water may be the cause of it. Attach my windscreen markings that show it's a Volvo one.

I did some tests with water and pusging out the windscreen:

I have also contacted Volvo customer care as well as dealers. Dealers in Scotland (Perth) offered to have a look at it for £76 p/h plus who knows how much it would cost to rebond the windscreen. Contacted TMS Volvo dealer in Hinckley, they've spoken to Volvo and will rebond the windscreen FREE as a good will plus will look into the ingress problem further. This is going to be a 300 miles one way drive to fix it but these guys have always been superb when it comes to Volvo service unlike my local Edinburgh dealer so this is my only option and will cost £80 of diesel.

So, I got confirmation from VCUK that they will pay for the re-bonding, although when I mentioned who would pay if the screen cracked while been removed, they suggested that I would, as that would normally only happen if the screen has some chips or small cracks, which mine doesn't. What I didn't ask (as I didn't want to push it, at the moment) is if they should be responsible for all the water marks left on the roof lining, and what happens if I was to get any electrical issues as result of the water ingress, although I'm sure they would make it impossible for me to prove it. Has anyone got anything more than the re-bonding, and has anyone had any electrical issues as a result of the water ingress?
Cheers.

Hi, I've been lurking for quite a while, I've had my XC60 for 2 years now and all has been fine with my car till recently. Noticed the other day a wet patch just to the right of the front interior light as well as a very very slow drip coming from the light housing. I removed the passenger side 'A' pillar cover and there was quite a lot of water in the plastic moulding. I pulled down the front of the headlining and noticed a pool of water where the interior light bulges out. There doesn't appear to be any water in the footwell. The car is always parked on a slope with the driver side lower than the passenger side but the front/back level.

Now I have a panoramic roof so I've checked the 2 front drainage pipes for blockages and all is fine and water flows freely. I've also checked the pipes are attached securely. I checked the plastic runners on the sunroof (that push down the wind deflector when closing) and these seem to be the updated design where they don't go all the way to the edge of the sunroof lid. I also checked the windscreen and it seems to be bonded fine, I pushed it from the inside and there's no movement.

I'm a bit stumped now, has anyone any advice what else it could be? I've done a forum search and have found users with similar problems but I've checked all that has been suggested to them. I was thinking maybe the rear drainage pipes are blocked but if they were then the water would just drain through the front ones. Maybe it could be the shark fin aerial but I would have thought the water would appear further back in the roof. Maybe the silver roof rail bolts but they seem secure.

Could the leak be coming from the rubber gasket that's attached round the sunroof opening? can this be removed easily and checked? Could the plastic frame of the sunroof be cracked? I'm going to use the hosepipe on the car this weekend, see if I can see any drips from inside with the headlining down.

My first Volvo ownership was going so well until this :-(
It's easy to check screen just push in top corner(s) if it's not sealed it will move easily, another check is to use a watercan and work your way around top of screen pouring out the water

Posted this on on the sticky link but didn't get much response - any thoughts please

After all the rain this week the small dribble down both sides of the windscreen turned into a swimming pool in the ns foot well and drips from the top of the trim between the pillar and the head lining.

Off to the dealer who have been servicing my car hoping for help to solve this well known problem.

Well their reaction was never heard really of this but you can book it in for one to two days of testing at a cost of £90 before we ask Volvo to pay for this!

If I have to pay for this repair what have you paid and which company do you recommend?

Hi, I had the same reaction, so I emailed Volvo UK to confirm who should be responsible, and they agreed to cover the cost. I know have it in writing, and with a refence number.

yes. Just in case, I sent them a couple of pictures of the water marks on the roof lining, although I'm sure there are very aware of the issue.

Hi Joey,

I seem to have the same problem on my xc60 2011. took the A-pillar trim off (passenger side) and there was water down it. I poured water into the sunroof tray and it ran freely through the pipe but what i did notice is that some dripped out along the side of the head lining where the A-pillar meets the roof lining. You mentioned you took the head lining off. Can you give me some pointers on the procedure of taking this off. Thanks

Well after a little email tennis with Volvo they kindly agreed to a goodwill gesture and offered to pay for the re- bonding of the windscreen. (but not the cost of a new screen if it was damaged on removal)

After an aborted visit to the dealers because they forgot to book the glass specialist, it was finally sorted today.

Screen came out no problem and was refitted in about 40 - 45 mins.

A big thank you to all on this forum for you advise regarding this and other faults.

For anyone in the Sheffield area the company Volvo use are a small local firm called BEE Windscreens.
