Hi

I have just taken delivery of my V60 T4 R-Design and the MPG is terrible. I have done a few journeys of 12 miles each way with no traffic and running at 70mph. The car is returning about 26.1mpg.
Will this get better or is my future destination always going to be a fuel station. It looks like 300 miles per tank.

That is an appalling MPG as you say. It should at the very least be in the low 40's. I am not sure how you have recorded that figure but I would do a full tank to full tank test to get an accurate figure. My 2ltr Diesel does that figure towing heavy trailer loads and I get a consistent mid 40's in general non tow mixed driving.
Modern engine tolerances are completely different to those of old which had a 'run in' regime. There will be a small improvement with use but your figure is way below what I would expect of even a modern new engine of that size, power and level of tuning. Hopefully other owners with the same engine will be along to allay your fears.

My V90 T5 has returned an average of 36mpg since new (March 2019). In the first three months it returned 35mpg since when it has been around 37mpg. These figures have been helped by the fact that my local motorway is undergoing long-term roadworks so what would have been a 70mph commute has been around 50mph, but on a long run at motorway speeds it has returned around 36mpg.

I agree that the 26mpg figure is low, but I'm not sure why you think a petrol engine should be getting similar mpg to your diesel. 30's would be more reasonable.

See website below, for "real MPG"

I have a S60 T5 R and our average is 11.3 L per 100 km. It is much higher than Volvo advertised. I am very unhappy about it.
