Self-center steering
After a routing service and presumably SW upgrades, the steering on my 2016 D4 2.0 (FWD VEA) XC60 fails to self-center as it used to.
Wheel alignment, and a new steering rack from Volvo later and it's not cured. Tried a few similar cars at dealership and all felt the same as mine, only I am certain in the 34k miles I drove it prior to the last service, my car's steering used to self-center while now it would hold a tight turn and drive in circles without steering wheel input. I am wondering if there was a SW upgrade on the steering ECU that has changed the way the steering behaves..... |

Thanks, i believe caster was adjusted as part of wheel alignment and only after new rack was fitted, so does not seem a likely factor, as the change in steering behaviour happened b4

Thanks Clan, the car was at the dealer last week and their master tech told me no new SW updates were available, yet my car was there two weeks prior for a service, so it might have been updated then.
Has anyone had any issues since the upgrade? Aside from the poor self-centering, twice now the power steering overreacted and tightened tight turn, which led in both cases to a near incident..... it's not making for a relaxed drive anymore. Back to the dealer insisting that Volvo HQ gets involved |
