Ok so today I feel bloody stupid.

I've got an 05 C70 convertible and have replaced the standard head unit with a new double DIN unit, as a consequence I currently have a gap underneath where the ash tray used to be.

Today I got in the car, realised I was still wearing glasses, took them off and put them in the little well behind the heated seat buttons (as per the attached image in front of the gear stick) When I got home they weren't there, I've searched the car and the only place they could have gone is through the gap! I've had my hand in, phone camera etc but can't locate them.

Is there an easy way to get in behind there or under the centre console? Or do I have to take the whole thing apart?

You should be able to reach in if you remove the plastic tray that forms the underside of the dash and then pull down the carpet. It's the approach used to remove the heater matrix, and should expose the area behind the ashtray quite well.
