Default volvo on call and telephone

I have the Volvo On Call fitted in my new car, I have the instructions etc but not sure what i am supposed to do. Do I have to re register,(as its a used car) i understand there is a subscription for part of it. I have emailed my the salesman but i think he is off today, but this forum is probably the best place to get to the bottom of it. Also does the tracker type system included in the VOC facility bring insurance costs down?
Also what do people do with the incar telephone system, eg have a duplicate sim, or, as in my case two drivers often use the car so was thinking of getting a PAYG sim and diverting calls to this number when driving.
Thanks

Talk Talk is £5 !! and it runs on the O2 network !

I think Volvo On Call is a breakdown/recovery scheme, like joining the AA. I seem to have a figure of £80 in my head.

They are able to contact you via the phone if you're involved in an accident that triggers airbags and if you don't reply they contact the emergency services giving them your location.

I use a Tesco PAYG SIM and forward my calls to the car.

Volvo On Call (similar with BMW etc) the telematics module has its own embedded GSM SIM card inside - and the module is naturally hidden away somewhere...a good system.

In a BMW I briefly had I accidently hit the button when in Germany and immediately a reassuring English voice spoke through the speakers from the BMW call centre back in the UK...even helped to find a decent local pub and then transmitted the POI to my built in Sat Nav - the Volvo system is the same.

Course it is also designed for emergencies...but in the Volvo the buttons are between the central dash air vents just below the hazard warning button...easy to push by accident, but there again they do need to be easy to access in emergencies.

This is all seperate from the built in GSM telephone system...
