Default Timing belt

Hi there,

I'm just wondering is the timing belt located in a different place on a 2007 S80 2.4 D to a V70 D5 on a 57 plate? Both have the grey engine covers if that helps.

The reason I ask is my Dad has a V70 & the timing cover is visible at the top of the engine bay, yet my S80 doesn't seem to have that cover & supposedly these engines are practically the same?

Am I missing something, or just not looking hard enough!?

If they are both the same engine then both are in the same place. Right hand side of engine sat in the car behind a plastic cover, the auxiliary belt is in front of it.

Both the cars should of had the timeing belt and auxiliary belt along with tensioners renewed by now under the 10 year rule.

D5 engine, auxiliary belt and tensioner 54,000 miles or 5 years timeing belt 108,000 miles or 10 years whichever comes sooner.

The 1.6 engines I know nothing about other than they were a Ford engine.

Paul.

Both cars have had the timing done. I've recently replaced the auxillery belts & tensioner on my S80 using genuine Volvo parts.

The next job is to do the auxillery belts and tensioner on the V70, which I think will be the same as the S80 more or less.
