Those one way valves are notourious for failing and leakingjnti the engine bay, I remember my dad having trouble with his and it looks like mines been replaced with a basic t piece... probably should get a proper valve for it but water comes out within about 2 seconds of operating the washers so I'm in no rush ATM.

It's a bit of untypically bad Volvo design IMHO Andy - they're designed to leak when they fail yet on the B200/230 engines the distributor is at the back of the engine, right underneath the valve and on the B280, plugs 1 and 4 get the spray instead.

If i hadn't found the right valve on PFV i would have bought a generic T-piece and a generic one-way valve and done it that way - at least the generic valve wouldn't leak when it failed, just shut down.
That said maybe Volvo designed the valve to leak to prevent excess pressure going to the headlamp washers.

The new valve landed today, fitting and testing took a few minutes, job done! Except...........

...................... the passenger side jet is now partly blocked!

I'm hoping it's just a little something that will dissolve and clear in a day or so, if not i'll disconnect the pipe where it meets the new valve and put the blow-gun on the jet from the outside and hopefully shift whatever detritus there is in there that way.

Meanwhile the drivers side jet now fans across further up the screen than it ever has done, further improving the enhanced cleaning of the mist/fan jets.
I daresay this will drop down slightly once the passenger side jet is working as it should but it should still be higher than it previously was.

My parents was a B28E so dissy at the back, it's a wonder the car still ran when the one on theirs failed, renewed and was all good though

I think if mine fails again i'll fit a generic non-return valve in the void between the bulkhead and the bonnet hinge and a generic T-piece on the bonnet.

It was the ones from Powerful UK. They're still going strong and the headlamps stay cleaner with them too - no real heat to bake the mud on!

Apart from my little post above, there's been very little to report on the 760 except for the following :

The wheel bearings went on the front - renewed with some NOS Ebay jobbies for £25.98, also managed to shift the ball joints using the ATF/acetone mix of penetrating oil and then the anti-roll bar drop links went.

Bearing in mind i renewed them with some Meyle items before the MoT i wasn't expecting that one! Now got some Delphi links on there, so far so good.

The real news is the fuel leaks! Had 14 of them (so far!) and all are simply down to the age of the rubber hoses. The last two will be the same problem, i've already done the other end of those two hoses on the tank where they connect. The ends have gone soft and squidgy like heater hoses do under the clamps.

No photos sadly because most of it has been underneath with petrol running up my arm so wasn't going to risk the phone getting drowned in 98 octane!

Other than that it's all good except for the spout on the air intake trunking that feeds into the idle control valve. It's slowly but surely detaching itself from the trunking causing an air leak - not good! I discovered this when i went to add my home-brew water injection kit.
Watch this space for a repair (with photos this time) and an appraisal of whether the water injection helps in any way other than cleaning the engine as i drive.

Wow that's a fair share of fuel leaks, but then I guess all the rubber hoses will be getting on a little now. As for the air trunking, I've heard of this on these, shame the part is nla as it would probably be easy to just get a new one and pop it on.
I've had the clearances checked on mine, along with idle speed set up and co adjustments. Not had a chance to drive it yet as was only done Friday but hoping for some improvements
