Default XC60 screen and audio/sat nav upgrade

Hi,
I have a 2012 D5 R Design that im likely to hang on to for a while as its only just hit 30k mileage.
The only thing id like to change is the 5" and/or audio system.
Ideally would like have sat nav plus maybe a better sound system although realise that id need to change my speakers so it could start getting expensive.
Ive seen a 2016 7" screen/sat nav snd head unit on ebay for £250 - would this be the way to go as the larger dash opening is included ?
I've been to Halfords once or twice who have been amazingly useless and can't find advice on line anywhere, so any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

The upgrade may be possible but will need coding and pairing to the car if all the loom is there better off speaking to either a car audio expert a few in cardiff, or a Volvo dealer/specialist again a few around and good one in bridgend but unless they have done it before it’s a science project.... start by speaking to a dealer FRF in Swansea offer discounts to owners club memebers on parts they may be a good place to start also check for old brochures and see what was available on your model year as an option. Due to the integrated nature of the Volvo waterfall DIN style units probably aren’t suitable but speaker and amp upgrades are easier to achieve
Does your dash look like this one https://www.gumtree.com/p/volvo/volv...ign/1340253143

Thanks very much for the comprehensive reply.
Yes, same dash as in the link, although thats the 7" version inc. sat nav whereas mine is the 5' version.
Another option ive been considering is to buy the section if dash that would accommodate a larger screen and then buy an off the shelf head unit that has a 7" screen.
The more i search, the more conflicting information i seem to get ! Uplands have said they can't help, although Halfords claim they can replace head units in 95% of vehicles so might go and have a chat with them.
Baffled that there's no definitive answer online to what i thought was a pretty straightforward question......but there you go !!
Any further comments appreciated......

Speak to a dealer..............or Volvo specialist.... the waterfall design use in the XC70/60v70 and others differs to most DIn type head units.....

Have never found uplands to be particularly helpful........try BB audio concepts maybe
