Default Wanted volvo 164 ! Pre - '73

Hi all , am interested in purchasing a good , usable , tax - free 164 . This is as an antidote to my frustratingly modern ( boring ) v70! Would be interested in hearing from anyone considering selling their 164 , pref. In the south - east / east anglia . Or does anyone know of one for sale ? Thanks to all in anticipation . . . .

Best of luck,

There is a 1970 164 up for sale in the sale section. It has low miles sounds like it is very good shape.

Default Are you still looking?

Just wondered if you found one as I am thinking that mine of some 10+ years ownership might be for sale soon?

The car is in the South East, by the way (not Orkney)!

Sorry, I tried to send you a private message, but apparently the system does not allow it as I have not posted sufficient messages in the past!

I wondered how immediate your need for one is? As I suggested on my previous posting on this thread, I have been considering selling my 164 once I have completed a couple of jobs on it.

At the moment, the brake calipers are being refurbished (by Bigg Red) and a couple of other jobs need attending to, but it has been my main daily transport for the last decade and I have driven it all over the country.

I keep it in Isleworth (TW7), by the way. If you should want to ask any questions or natter about it, please feel free to e-mail me on
wrong@mowat-brown.co.uk

Thanks,
George

Hi Mike C,

because of the new plus thirty replies rule a number of members cannot post private messages, however, if you want to give the Forum members first dibs on your car and to generate interest, as a suggestion, why don't you post her up in the for sale section with some pictures and a price region?

I know this was intended for Mike, but it applied to me also. Seems a bit of a daft rule, but once the jobs are carried out and the car is ready for sale, I can always put it on one of the Classic car sites — my wife sold her trusty old 240 estate within a day via this (having unsuccessfully tried to post private messages to other members). I suppose this also has the advantage of finding a possible new member for the club.

Thanks for the suggestion, I shall await completion of the jobs.

George

Fortunately we are well over this new "plus 30 posts" rule, however, Bugman, our computer died around when I sent you a mail saying my 164 in Redhill is ready for your inspection! Therefore I'm saying it again now.

If you are under 30 posts, let me know if/when you are interested in seeing it as previously discussed. However, from the above posts it seems there are several for sale now, so the choice is yours! Just let us know you are still on this Forum.
