Why dont you just take the alloy rear diff plate off, ? it takes 5 minutes with a 13mm ratchet and spanner, and also gives you the opportunity to refresh the axle oil.
It will then be obvious.

Since it is active in both forward and reverse directions, the average motorist would find the car understeering into corners in low grip situations, and oversteering out of them , as in , both wheels would break away under power, not just (usually) the inside one.

I have a parts brochure showing the "option" lsd unit for 700/900/240 cars, it seems to be without the unlock bob weight.
While it does have friction plates, the G80 locker can only be 100% locked or unlocked - there is no slip in the mechanism as in a standard LSD, so it's unsuitable for high-speed use - should one rear wheel break loose at speed, say on ice or leaves at the side of the road, the shock of the locker engaging can break the other wheel loose as well and cause sudden and unexpected loss of traction. The locker is better in low-speed, low traction situations like a muddy field or a snowy road as it provides much more grip setting off and at low speeds.

By the way if you do have a locker then remember this important information.
Do not jack one wheel off the ground when trying to spin a rusty disk in order to clean the rust off!!!!!,,I did without thinking and nearly dropped the car on it's bum.Luckily as I lifted my foot off the clutch I felt it move and slammed my foot back on the clutch and stabbed the brake pedal.Yikes it was leaning the standard jack forward but luckily the jack held up until I got my trolley jack underneath.

Strange thing is when I got both wheels off the ground it did turn both wheels equally but after stopping it I turned one wheel by hand and heard a slight clunk as the locker let go.This then allowed me to spin it and the other wheel turned in the opposite direction.

So checking a diff to see if it's a locker isn't as easy as spinning just one wheel by hand?

Better to find a soft piece of grass and drop the clutch.Mine always spins both and even on tarmac or concrete it always grips on both and sends you off in a straight line.
Also ideal for towing oversized twin axle caravans on wet muddy fields. And yes works just as well in reverse Lol.
Regards Brian.
