Second Subwoofer Installation

Evening all

My car has an aftermaket headunit and the amplified subwoofer in the boot, i've been toying with the idea of purchasing a second OEM V40 subwoofer and fitting it in boot, opposite the original subwoofer.

My first question is, if i splice the existing power and signal cables to the existing subwoofer and run the second subwoofer off the original wiring, would this work and would my existing woofer still work as it currently does?

My second question is, would i be better fitting a second amplified, or non amplified subwoofer? Would the signal wiring be the same to the one plug, just minus the power plug?

I love my music but am no expert on audio wiring etc!!! Apologies if this has been covered before but couldn't find anything...
