Loose door panel
Hi
Can't find anyone posting on this. This is my problem. The center leather wrapped panel on the doors, the one which has the power window switch and door handle is loose. This panel is attached to the bigger door panel by some glue which I think is too little and overall not a good design. I've tried using some multipurpose glue to glue that trim back on. It is not strong enough. Initially it affected the front passenger door not it is affecting the driver's and other rear doors. Having kids coming in and out and pushing on that panel does not help I'm afraid. Any clever and stronger solutions? Thanks! |

Have you ever used the black trim tape, normally used for attaching badging and trim on the outside of the car? You can buy rolls of the stuff from Halfords and the like and it is pretty strong stuff. Just let it cure for a while to get maximum adhesion and I am sure this should sort your problem out. Good luck Gary P.S. Threaten the kids with a "severe beating" for pushing on them! Not that I condone beating children, but the threat in the correct tone is normally sufficient. :-)

Also, if the tape doesn't work, try some household sealant - needs to cure, so the smell goes away, if using silicone.

It can be found next to the other tapes / velcro tape etc. Harris is the manufacturer and it is in an orange pack. 12mm x 4m for £5.49. *** Sorry Aslam Just realised you are in Malaysia! Not sure if Halfords reach out that far, yet. You may find it as number plate fixing tape. I hope that is of more help. *** Gary

Right, time has come to tackle the panel. I bought myself some heavy duty sealant. I could not find any good quality trim tape.
A few pics before I start in case anyone has some other solution and also pics are better than words! P1013489.JPG There's a straw I stuck in between the trim and door panel. On the inside if I push on the trim you could see the obvious gap. And also what's left of the old factory glue. P1013490.JPG |

All four door have had the super glue treatment and everything seems to be holding well for a few weeks now. No more rattles. After the glue have dried it, the color of the glue looks just like the factory glue.
Kids have been giving a briefing not to push on that trim when opening the doors! Hopefully this fix will last for years! |

I've used clear silicone before on cars.... Will hold much better than the stupid factory clips.
They are so stupidly made I wouldn't be surprised if 4 year old babies assemble them. |

Loose leather on door handle
Hello
I have loose leather on my door handle as well, I tried a glue but it didn't work! Did the tape work and/or what kind of adhesive did you use? Seems like terrible design |
