Default V40 High Level Brake Light Cover Removal ???

My high level brake light is filling up with water when it rains. I have tried to take the light casing of inside the boot to see where it is leaking from but it doesnt want to come off. Any way it should be taken off as i dont want to snap anything pulling at it. Cheers

It is held in by clips and even though I was carefull still managed to snap mine. So the answer to your question is the cover does just pull off and inside the cover you will find a nice block of foam stuck to the inside which is no doubt water logged. unclip the rear washer and use mastic to seal and clip it back in place. It usually leaks due to the rubber seal perishing. I did this to mine and been all good since.

Just did it on mine and luckily did not snap any of the clips.

Here are the images. I used the thingy you use to remove the wheel nuts. You can put some sort of fabric around the metal to protect the paint on the metal surface of your car.

Be gentle and firm and you will get it out

That is the benefit of having a spare salvage car that you can do whatever you want to it. When the time comes, I am going to see about front strut. At the moment I am struggling to remove one stupid nut from the rear wheel and it happens to be the one with the security bolt...................

Is a long arm spanner no help? You can get some REALLY long telescopic ones

Failing that, a bit of oxyacetylene applied to the bolt will usually free it up if it's seized

lol. That post was from ages ago. I don't have a garage, so my tools are fairly limited. In the end, I removed the caliper and carrier and removed the entire wheel and hub assmbly. Then with the help of my trusty angle grinder, I cut through the hub and disc and cut the head of the bolt.....
