The spring mounts appear fine. When these cars were new I don't ever recall seeing a parked one sagging.

Skandix do indeed to an OEM leaf spring but only for suspension code 3 (V90 without ride height adjustment) which is odd because I thought all later cars (mine is 1998) had Nivomats.

Anyone know if fitting the thicker code 3 spring with Nivomats is a problem? Are the mounts different for the code 3 - i.e. thinner mounts for a thicker spring? I don't mind a higher ride height since its an estate and loading the car when it's been parked and the Nivomats deflated is a pain.

Thanks
Skandix have since got back to me. They won't reveal who is making the spring for them (though they say they also supply Mercedes). They have loose plans to add the other two springs to the range, subject to how well the code 3 one sells - odd they did it this way around.

Unofficially they believe the code 3 spring will fit and work ok with Nivomats, but of course they would not then honour any warranty and cannot say what effect it would have on the ride height or quality. Anyone tried this before?

But there you go, maybe we will all be able to get our hands on the right spring in due course..........for a price

The leaf springs are being made in the Netherlands

Using the non Nivo spring with Nivos will lift the rear end, ride will also be a bit harder then factory but not to the point of being harsh

Thanks for that. I am tempted to try it, I don't mind it being a bit firmer if it just gets rid of the sag when parked and the tendency to float and bottom out on the bump stops when going over dips.

Anyone know if Monroe still make their Ride Levellers? I had those on my 240 and thought they were great!

Do you know who makes them? My preference would always have been to get the original spring re-tensioned.....

They cant really loose their tension like a metal spring they are laminated fibre and glass fibre .. From your description of hitting the bump stops over bumps it sounds as if your dampers are not doing a lot at all .. Are there any rubber parts between spring and arms ?

The shocks are new Nivomats, correct stock. There are 4 bushes/brackets along the spring, they look good on the vehicle (normally the metal bracket surrounding the rubber bush rusts) but I have some new ones, so I might try replacing them and seeing if the rubber part has shrunk or hardened sufficiently to affect the spring tension.

There is an old forum post elsewhere describing the procedure for replacing the spring and it says the spring tension can be "adjusted with a big spanner" once it's in place, but I really can't see that is possible. There is no adjustment, other perhaps than clamping the spring with the mounts in a particular state of tension......?

There is no adjustment available , maybe you can fine tune it with some thin strip of hard rubber under the mounts unless you see a problem elsewhere ...
