They are referred to as 20-spoke with large centre and small hub-cap. They look very similar to one of the plastic wheel trims often used with steel wheels (also as fitted to 240s) and are silver in colour. They are referred to as 6Jx15x25 which is 6inch wide, J section, 15-inch diameter, 25mm offset. this is the usual size fitted to later 700 cars onwards. For saloons the tyre size should be 185/65/15 and for estates 195/65/15. The inflation pressures are front (saloon and estate) 28psi and rears (saloon) 28psi (estate) 30psi. Max pressures are front (saloon and estate) 30psi and rears (saloon) 38psi (estate) 41psi.

All the best, Peter.

The jetex exhaust is not very noticable louder than the standard system. It sounds nice, but is never a drone say at motorway speeds compared to other performance exhausts i've had on other cars.

As i remember one of Jetex's motto's was Power not Noise.

ive seen a B230A! , only in a 740 that we transplanted from somewhere else .

Foggy is sending me one of the manifolds hes got , so i can fab up a plenum for fuel injection . For those tempting twin webbers should also look at MS efi , since itll probably be cheaper and more tuneable . The B230K engines i worked on all seemed to have black death , so make sure its got the oil changed and been looked after .

That proves it then they do exist in 740's.
Whith regard to the black death what happens to them, does the oil galleries glog up? Mine was neglected by the previous owner for about 9 years quite possibly as the oil was filthy on the gearbox and engine oil, the axle oil was a lot cleaner but I replaced all fluids.
The engine seems to have a good oil feed to the camshaft and I have just given its 4 th engine oil and filter change using castrol GTX magnatex 10w-40 and a genuine volvo oil filter. Ive had the car 20 months and done 15,000 miles. Is there any reccomended engine oil flushing products to clean out the engine oil gunk. Thanks 740GLE.

Hi all; this is my first use of the site and the forum - so i'm probably doing it all wrong. Apologies!
Re my 1988 760 Turbo Estate, and 1990 760 Turbo Saloon :- can anyone tell me whether the B230ET and B230FT engines have the same exhaust manifold gasket as the 230E engines - my supplier suggests the turbo models need a different gasket and there are none specifically listed for turbo models in the catalogue.
Personally I can't see any difference - the turbo unit bolts from the back (inside) of the manifold.
I need to know urgently and if anyone can point me in the right direction i would be very grateful. Thanks.

Default Weber Conversion B230F LH 2.4

Hello,

I don’t know if this is the correct place to post my question. I have an 89 240 GL, B230F, originally with Jetronic LH 2.4 and Manual M47. Previous owner did a bad job of converting to a Weber carburetor. I want to clean up the installation. I would like to know where I could purchase an engine harness for the carburetor model. I also want to know how the setup is for the ignition control. Is there an ignition control? Which part number? Also, how is the setup for fuel delivery? The original injected version LH 2.4 had an in tank pump and another inline pump providing hi pressure fuel to the EFI system and a return line to the tank. Does the carburetor version have a pump/ regulator? I understand the carburetor needs a higher volume but lower pressure flow.

Thanks in advance!

You gain nothing with this stupid swap to a downdraft Weber carburetor.
Rebuild the LH2.4 and you will be a happy volvo driver/owner.
Aircon and this carb swap is even stupid more.
My 2cent.
Good luck, Kay

That is a very random conversion, like Kay says I would be trying to get the bits to reinstall the lh2.4 injection system.
