Default 6 year service, dealer or independant?

So i cant decide if i should take the v90 for its service to a dealer or to an independent. (likely john clark edinburgh if dealer, craig moncrieff if indy)

aside from getting the volvo breakdown cover thing is there really any benefit to the dealer?

also any estimates on what kinda costs im likely to be looking at?

My 6 year V60 service is coming up at £450.

I would go independent for about £300 if I didn't have a Volvo Selekt warranty on it, but that's the price you understandably pay for the privilege.

The advantages of using dealers is the breakdown cover and software upgrades that you don’t get with an Indy. The breakdown cover offsets some of the service cost.

well volvo just told me

You are able to see on this link here the price is stating £1050. https://www.volvocars.com/uk/workshop-booking/services

the link however didnt load for me at all but frankly they were so unhelpful that sod them, ive booked with the independent.

what is it with dealers being unable to answer simple questions or ever return a phone call when they say they will?

It sounds like they also wanted to con you into including a cam belt change as well.
See the various threads on here with advice from Clan about the 6 year service.

My local Volvo dealer wants £450 and knew there was no cam belt due when I rang, with no hard sell either.

What is you car's mileage.

Also, what major service items have already been done, when, and at what mileages?

As above - £500 of what was probably quoted was for a cam belt . I'm sure a D4 owner will advise when it's actually due. (Mine is 10yrs or 108k, and not every 6 years that some of us were misquoted...)

From what I can tell, including what's been written on this forum, it's 90k miles or 10 years, whichever comes first.

I bought the genuine service kit from Volvo parts trade ( was Mill now Stoneacre ) and did it myself. Air, cabin, fuel and oil filter are all easy enough to do. Entire kit was about £140.00. Air, cabin and fuel aren't done on every service at main dealers either

I used an Indy once when I had issues with a slipped disc and although they actually did the cabin filter it was the cheapest wafer thin thing you've ever seen and not a patch on the gen Volvo one
